Froth (Los Angeles)
Garage Rock/Psych Pop
It’s been an eventful couple of years for Froth, from the quartet’s 2012 formation to its 2013 debut, Patterns, to its astonishing rise in the L.A. scene. There is a buzzy simplicity in Froth’s sonic blueprint, a sound shaped by a love of ‘60s reverbed Garage Rock, augmented by swirling, sugary Psychedelic Pop and visceral Shoegaze wall of wail. Patterns sounds like a lost classic from half a century ago, when boys in ripped denim channeled teenage angst through a Danelectro guitar and a cheesy practice amp, and Froth proudly carries that paint-peeling banner into the new millennium.
YDIIYD: The Cramps without the Saturday afternoon horror movie host ethic, 13th Floor Elevators without the acid flashback burn. (BB)
